Each lady friend has her own personal stories, which are all tied to quarterher. Minerva starts by going to boarding school and relateing Sinita, who opens her eyes to Trujillos terrors. Patria, also in school, starts to beat a nun, but scratch when she meets her love through foot washing. After boarding school, Minerva and Dede meet Lio, a communist who furthers Minervas, and even Dedes view of Trujillo, who has been getting more and more like a dictator as the years had gone by. Mate enters school, and eventually goes to college with Minerva, while Patria and Dede become mothers and housewives. Soon, Mate gets envolved with the revolution, which Minerva has been getting involved in after run across Lio, and her dance with Trujillo.

Their father ends up taking the blame for Minervas questionable activities in the revolution, and gets jailed, and dies. All the girls are eventually married, with some hardships within their marriages. One of the hardships is the imprisonment of the girls husbands and the girls own imprisonment. They obviously jadet have a happy time in there, and when they are finally released on house arrest, they are real grateful for everything. This doesnt stop the ambitious girls and soon are back to following the revolution. Unfortunately, Minerva, Mate and Patria are killed on a high mountain rode while being driven to levy their husbands.
