It is my picture that public art is an extremely worthwhile and important facial gesture for communities to offer. For the ordinary person, attempting to understand art can be a very intimidating experience and planning a go through a museum to appreciate art isnt necessarily high-pitched on everyones bucket list. However, there does seem to be a growth among communities to become showcases for public art. Bringing magical spells of art into a community not only provides a tremendous opportunity for the area to define itself, but also provides motion picture to people would not normally seek that type of adventure. Public art, whether it is located within a public building or hidden in a landscape, provides a more intimate opportunity for the community to interact with it. The fact that the artwork is now connected with a certain area also helps to annex dimension to area around it, which could also change the mien you may have perceived the community prior to the artwork being placed there.
The public art I encountered is a sculpture situated along the bike path of the Susquehanna River.
When I first moved to Harrisburg, I lived within the city limits, and would oft walk and run on this path. Every time I passed by, it captured my attention and provoked an emotional connection. My initial answer to this piece was a deep sense of evolution, leaning along the bloodline of the birth and growth of a person. I believe this reaction was due to my upcoming marriage and my desire to start a family. What this piece said to me was all about nurturing a elegant person and they will grow strong and stand tall. afterwards many years have passed, my recent reencounter with this sculpture is just about the same with yet a little twist.
