History

Megan McGee 18 January 2012 History 255 Professor Brown John Whites Watercolor Paintings John White came to the New World in the late 1500s where his main goal was to capture the images describing complete ideas of the environment and the inhabitants. The water-colors not only capture the ideas of the environment just they also tell the history and emotions that occurred in that time period. By capturing the immanent American hamlets, the hoi polloi who lived in those villages, and their daily life, people can see how life was lived during a time that is so unfamiliar to most people today. The first picture that I looked at was called Indian Village of Pomeiooc it was the perfect example of the environment. In this painting White shows us what an actual village looked interchangeable. The watercolor shows how close the village was and what they did to make sure that they were safe, by masking how the Native Americans set up a fence somewhat their community to protect their homes. The imagery shows what daily life was like for the Native Americans, as I looked at the watercolor I saw a man splitting timber with an axe, a group of Native Americans standing around a fire, as well as a person coming go forth of one of the houses, all things that are still done in our society.

Another painting that shows the environment is called Indian Village of Secoton where the village is not secured by a fence and the land is cover in houses and farmland. This shows that the Native American people were aware of their skirt and knew how to use their natural resources to make crops to feed themselves. To me this painting shows that this township was more advanced than the other watercolor painting because it shows field for farming and that wasnt shown in the other painting. The painting called Indian in Body Paint is a perfect locution of what a Native American Indian male looked like. Native Americans were known for their hunting and gathering, which is shown in this painting... If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
